This workshop is the first event organized by the Cosmic Dawn Initiative, part of the UC Multi-Campus Research Programs and Initiatives (MRPI). The workshop aims to bring experts in 21-cm cosmology together with theorists and observers studying the “Cosmic Dawn” and era of reionization using a broad range of techniques and methodologies. The goal is to discuss synergies between different experiments, optimize methods to test theoretical models, and strategize about future probes. The workshop will focus on fostering interactions across the high-redshift community, with a small number of invited talks and ample time for questions and wider discussion. In particular, we expect to devote more than half of the meeting time to guided discussions. The workshop should prove especially useful to researchers interested in developing multi-wavelength constraints on the reionization era and synergies between disparate observational approaches. The workshop will be intentionally small (of order 60 participants) in order to maximize discussion and interaction across all attendees.
We are currently accepting applications for the conference. Special consideration will be given to University of California faculty, students, and postdocs, but all are invited to apply. The conference will be held at the Beckman Center in Irvine, CA on October 1-2, 2015. The registration fee of $200 will include lunch on both Thursday and Friday and the conference dinner on Thursday.
