Directions to the Keck Science Meeting at the Beckman Conference Center

Roads around Irvine can be pretty confusing, and we recommend printing out this page and a map before you leave.  Even if you're only driving from the nearby hotels it would be pretty easy to get lost without a map. 

Here's the Beckman Center map with directions (pdf).   This has directions starting from Los Angeles, San Diego, and Riverside.

The Beckman Center is located at 100 Academy Way in Irvine, adjacent to the UCI campus, near the intersection of University Drive and California Avenue.  The entrance and parking lot are along Academy Way.  The closest freeways are the 405 and 73.  Highway 73 is a toll road but the stretch of it that runs between the 405 and the UCI campus is free.  There's free parking in the Beckman Center lot.

If you're staying at the Atrium hotel and don't have a car, the hotel has a shuttle van that can give you a ride to the meeting.  Please let them know in advance when you'll be needing a ride, because if you wait until the last minute the van might not be there when you need it.   The Beckman Center is also a short taxi ride from John Wayne Airport or from the hotels.

If you're starting from the West Los Angeles area, LAX, or Long Beach Airport: take the 405 freeway heading south and exit onto highway 73 South.  Exit from highway 73 at University Drive and turn left on University, then right on California, then right on Academy.

If you're starting from Pasadena:  take the 210 East to the 605 South.  Follow the 605 all the way to its end and stay in the left lane as you approach the end of the 605, which will put you on the 405 heading south.  Continue south on the 405 and exit onto to highway 73 South.  Exit from highway 73 at University Drive and turn left on University, then right on California, then right on Academy.

If you're starting from John Wayne Airport or the airport hotels:   Go south on MacArthur Blvd.  (This may require doing a U-turn on MacArthur after you exit your hotel.)  After you pass the intersection with Jamboree, continue on MacArthur and move toward the right lane.  Take the University Ave. off-ramp on your right, and then at the bottom of the ramp, turn right onto University Dr. heading east.  Then turn right at California, and right again at Academy to enter the Beckman Center.   Here's a Google map showing the route.
