Instructions for speakers in the friday science meeting.

In order to maximize efficiency during the meeting, we plan to pre-load talks onto 2 laptops, one Windows and one Mac.  We can support Keynote 3, Power Point, and Acrobat pdf formats.  If you need other software, let us know as soon as possible.

Please upload your file by 5 pm wednesday, September 13.

How to upload your file:

First: give your file a name that contains your last name, as in "einstein.ppt".

***Special note for Keynote users:  A Keynote file is actually a directory that contains all the files and images in your presentation.  In order to upload it you have to put it into a tar or zip archive.   The easiest way to do that is to to find the icon representing your keynote file, and Control-Click on it, and select "Create Archive of...".  This will create a zip file containing your talk which you can upload.

Then, go to the following page-

Click on the Upload button at the top, and upload your file.  (The webfiles server will be down for maintenance on Saturday, September 9 from 7 am to noon.)

This is my first time using this webfiles thing to handle file uploads- please let me know if you have any trouble with it!

Also, just to be on the safe side, please bring your talk to the meeting either on your own laptop, on a USB memory drive, or a CD.
