Reimbursement
for Graduate Students & Postdoctoral Researchers:
Graduate students who work in the Astronomy Outreach Program
accrue money into a research fund at the rate of $15/hr for outreach
visits and $12/hr for Visitor Nights. The rate for Postdoctoral
researchers is $30/hr.
If you want to know the balance you have in your research fund,
simply email Prof. Smecker-Hane
and ask.
Graduate students can be reimbursed for research expenses from
this fund, although only in an amount that does not exceed what they
currently have accrued. Research expenses can include such things as
the costs of attending a professional meeting or a telescopeobserving
run, and the cost of buying supplies, a computer or other piece of
equipment that they want to use in their research, etc.
To be reimbursed, a student or researcher should print out a
Supply Reimbursement Request Form, which is located at the bottom of
the Physical Science Administrative
Forms website. Fill out your Name, Employee ID number, Phone
Number, Description and Purpose of Items and Amount. Then tape your
original receipt to the page and submit it to Prof. Tammy Smecker-Hane.
You will be reimbursed electronically.
