Web
Sites Around UCI
You don't have to go far to find some useful web sites. Many of the departments around campus provide services for both you and your students. It's a good idea to know where to find those services are before somebody needs them. If you can't find something that you're looking for, you might try one
of the following pages:

| STUDENT SERVICES
Office of the Dean of Students: a good starting point to find about cultural programs and services (CCC, CWGE, etc.). Yes, there is more to a college education than doing homework problems. Office for Disabilities Services: they offer assistance (test taking accommodations, etc.) for students (undergrad and grad). Their guide for TAs & instructors is very informative and is worth a read before you step into the classroom. Health Education Center: Only with a strong mind, a healthy body, an enlivened spirit and a clear aspiration nurtured in a supportive environment can students succeed. Counseling Center: the place to go for expert assistance with psychological problems and concerns. Any student can get free counseling. International Center: information about IC activities as well as tax and visa info. Especialy for your students: Learning and Academic Resource Center: they not only has physics tutoring services, they also have workshops to help students with various study skills. PS Student Affairs: helps majors & non-majors with academic concerns. Student Academic Advancement Service: helps first-generation college students, low-income students and students with disabilities. Center for Opportunities and Diversity in Engineering:
offers tutoring services, academic workshops and review sessions as well as
career preparation information.

| POLICIES & ADMINISTRATION
Sexual Harassment Policy: it may be long, but it's necessary. The first portion gives definitions & examples. If you'd prefer a graphic representation of the complaint process the university has post a flow chart. Academic (dis)Honesty Policy: We are members of a close knit community; consequentially, we have certain responsibilities. Computer Use Policy : as we march into the 21 century and computers are used more often in the classroom, it is a good idea to find out what OAC's rules & regulations are. Ombudsman: the office
to head for if you have a complaint or concern. Their job is to help
serve as an advocate by investigating & settling disputes.
IN THE CLASSROOM
EEE : If you're interested in setting up a course web page or listserv, these are the people to contact. Not only do they control the computers, they also are very helpful- individual assistance or workshops. Computer Labs: if you and your students are going to be using the web or email, you need to know where to find the computers. UCI Student Profile: just who are those people sitting in your classroom? If you're interested in getting all of the data head to OAISM. IRC : Last but certainly not least. Both the web pages and the people in the office are great resources for teaching assistance. The job workshops are also very popular (and practical). |
