COSMOS Open Night - June 30, 2014

Below are listed objects that we can observe with the 24" & 12" telescopes on the opening night of COSMOS. Click on the Messier name of the object and it will take you to the SEDS or Wikipedia page for that object so that you can learn about it and be prepared to answer student's questions during Visitor Night. Distances in light years, apparent magnitudes and dimentions on the sky are listed below to help you choose which telescope and eyepiece would be best. Objects which are visible only at the start of the night are listed as "Early", while objects that are not visible at the start of the night but will rise sometime during the night are listed as "Late".
