Tammy Smecker-Hane
Associate Professor, Dept. of Physics & Astronomy and Director, UCI Observatory, UCI
UCI Observatory
Intended Audience:
Open to public:

Join us on May 17 to explore the night sky from the UCI Observatory. Listen to a short lecture by Professor Tammy Smecker-Hane entitled "Ask An Astronomer" where she tells you about the astronomical objects that you'll be able to see with the telescopes that night and then opens the floor for questions from the audience about any astronomy topic. Its a great opportunity to ask about something that's been on your mind after watching the new episodes of "COSMOS: A Spacetime Odyssey" by Neil deGrasse Tyson!
Come and catch a glimpse of Jupiter, Saturn and Mars, and star clusters like the amazing globular cluster M3, which contains over 5000,00 stars, with our suite of telscopes. Also, learn how to use a night sky map to locate your favorite stars and constellations in the Spring sky.
Visitor Nights are open to the Friends of the UCI Observatory and to the public. We thank the Friends of the UCI Observatory for the financial support which enables the UCI Observatory to provide Visitor Nights and activities to the community. If you would like to learn more about becoming a Friend of the UCI Observatory click here or you may make a donation on line via our secure e-giving website at  or by mail UCI Observatory Pledge Form.
Parking is available on campus for $2 per hour or $14 maximum. Although reservations are not required, we would appreciate RSVP's for purposes of planning and logistics.
