Please join us April 21st for the Lyrid meteor shower expected to take place in the night sky as Earth swings through debris left behind by Comet Thatcher.  A short lecture entitled, “Meteor Showers and Solar System Debris,” will be presented by Graduate Student, Andrew Graus. 

Visitor Nights are open to the Friends of the UCI Observatory and to the public. We thank the Friends of the UCI Observatory for the financial support which enables the UCI Observatory to provide Visitor Nights and activities to the community. Parking is available on campus for $2 per hour or $8 max. Although reservations are not required, we would appreciate RSVP's for purposes of planning and logistics.  

Please remember to dress warmly and bring flash lights.  We heartily encourage amateur astronomers to bring their own telescopes to share with our visitors. For additional information about Visitor Nights, please see Parking and directions may be found at

* Please note, there will not be shuttle bus service this night, and visitors can park along the Observatory's gravel road. Porter potties will not be available at this event.
