Abstract: Would we know if dark matter interacted with itself strongly? What would it mean if it did? This talk will provide an introduction to this topic, which I have developed over the past fifteen years. Astrophysical observations support two distinct possibilities: dark matter is either effectively collision-less or strongly collisional. We are on the cusp of a revolution in this area given the data expected from various observatories and surveys, and the hints that already exist in the data.
