A sympoium to honor the life and work of Professor Myron Bander is being held Saturday, June 8th, 2013, from 8:50 am - 5:30 pm. The symposium is being held at the Newkirk Alumni Center on the campus of the University of California, Irvine (registration is scheduled for 8:15 am - 8:50 am). Family members, colleagues, and friends are welcome to attend this event, which is being hosted by Department of Physics and Astronomy (refreshments and lunch will be provided). The symposium will be followed by a culminating banquet at the Marriott Hotel Irvine beginning at 6:30 pm. ................................... About Myron Bander Professor Bander earned his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. (1962) from Columbia University. He held postdoctoral positions at CERN, Copenhagen, and SLAC before joining the UCI Physics Department in 1966. Professor Bander was Department Chair from 1992-95, and from 1978-80. Dr. Bander also served as Dean of the School of Physical Sciences from 1980-86. Most of Dr. Bander’s research was in elementary particle theory, and he worked on problems in statistical mechanics and in general relativity.

TRANSPORTATION FROM MARRIOTT HOTEL The UCI Spirit Bus will be at the Marriott Hotel to retrieve attendees at 7:50 a.m., with a planned departure to the Newkirk Alumni Center at 8:00 a.m.
INDIVIDUAL DRIVERS You may drive to the Marriott for the evening banquet (we have a reduced parking rate of $9.00), or, if you prefer, you may leave your vehicle at the Alumni Center, and take the UCI Spirit Bus to the banquet. The Marriott shuttle has been reserved to return attendees to the Alumni Center after the banquet.
