Keys for Department of Physics & Astronomy students, faculty and staff are issued through the department. The Department of Physics & Astronomy occupies space in six buildings: the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building (ISEB), Rowland Hall (RH), Frederick Reines Hall (FRH), Multipurpose Science and Technology Building (MSTB), Natural Sciences 1 (NSI), and Natural Sciences 2 (NSII). The Physics & Astronomy Administrative Offices are located on the fourth floor of Frederick Reines Hall. Building keys are issued on a case-by-case basis, based on the person’s office or lab location, and when there is demonstrated need.
The procedure for obtaining keys:
1. Email the Physics and Astronomy office (physadmn@uci.edu) clearly stating the room numbers and the space you need access to.
- All parties should be cc'ed in email: Your faculty advisor, supervisor, or the person who is officially assigned the space and request. Please provide their approval via e-mail confirmation.
2. After the responsible party approves, you will receive an email from the department notifying you when your keys are ready for pickup.
3. You may pick up your keys at the department office (FRH 4129). The department key pick-up hours are between 8:30 am-12 pm and 1pm- 4:30pm Monday through Friday.

Payments must be made by cash and brought to the department office when keys are picked up. Please note that Key Cards for ISEB check-outs require a cash deposit of $25 per key card.
5. You must pick up and return your own keys to the department.
6. If work location changes, you may exchange keys with no additional deposit.
