ABSTRACT:

I discuss a scenario where nontrivial flavor structure in new particles beyond the standard model could exist at the few TeV scale without giving rise to unacceptably large flavor changing neutral currents, and without invoking minimal flavor violation.  The mechanism does not in itself explain the origin of the flavor structure of the quark masses and mixing angles, but the hope is that it opens up the possibility for viable flavor models at relatively low energy scales.
