UCI Assistant Professor Judit Romhanyi Awarded Hellman Fellowship Award

Judit Romhanyi, Physics and Astronomy Assistant Professor, has been awarded the 2021-2022 Hellman Fellowship for her proposal “Z2 or not Z2? Topological protection in quantum magnets”.
 
Awarded by UCI’s Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, the honor recognizes outstanding assistant professors for research excellence.  The award will support Professor Romhanyi's research in the area of Condensed Matter and Materials Research physics. The Hellman Fellows Fund was established at UC Irvine in 2013 through the generosity of Chris and Warren Hellman. Professor Romhanyi is only the second Physics and Astronomy faculty to have the honor of joining Society of Hellman Fellows since its establishment.
 
Professor Romhanyi joined the UCI faculty in 2019.  She received her Ph.D. from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2012. Before joining UCI in 2019, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research, Dresden, at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, Stuttgart, and became a Staff Scientist at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology in Japan.
