The state of climate mitigation

Abstract:

Falling costs of clean energy technologies have encouraged countries, states, cities and companies to commit to ever more ambitious emissions reductions. If all their pledges were met, some international climate goals could be in reach. But few of these actors are on track to meet their pledges. Drawing on the recently published Fifth National Climate Assessment, I’ll quantify recent trends and the outlook in the U.S., highlighting promising near-term opportunities and priorities for further research.
