
UC Irvine Physics and Astronomy Professor Kevork Abazajian has been recognized as a 2026 Outstanding Referee by the American Physical Society (APS).
Instituted in 2008, the Outstanding Referee program is a highly selective lifetime award that honors scientists who have been exceptionally helpful in assessing manuscripts for publication in APS journals. Professor Abazajian is one of only 156 honorees selected this year from a global pool of roughly 56,000 active reviewers.
Honorees are chosen by APS Editors based on the quality, number, and timeliness of their peer review reports. This prestigious recognition highlights Professor Abazajian’s dedication to the physics community, as the efforts of Outstanding Referees are vital in maintaining the rigorous standards of APS journals and helping authors improve the clarity and quality of their scientific literature.
