"Automating NLO effective field theory with MadGraph5"

Next-to-leading order (NLO) predictions are becoming the new standard of theoretical predictions at hadron colliders.  In this talk I will discuss some recent theoretical progress and ongoing efforts in systematically developing and automating the effective field theory of the standard model to NLO accuracy, in the MadGraph5_aMC@NLO framework.  Several applications will be presented as examples, including top-quark and Higgs coupling measurements, as well as dark matter searches at the LHC.
