Abstract:

The Higgs boson may be a composite particle, made of a top quark and a vectorlike quark. The binding should be non-confining, and may be provided by a new spontaneously-broken gauge interaction.

I will show that the Higgs boson can arise as the pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson of the chiral symmetry associated with the vectorlike quark and the top quark. Its mass can be computed, and is consistent with the value of 125 GeV measured by the CMS and ATLAS collaborations. I will also discuss searches for vectorlike quarks at hadron colliders.
