Abstract:

The search for broken time reversal symmetry (TRSB) states in the superconducting state of unconventional superconductors intensified in the past several years as more systems have been predicted to possess such a state. In this talk we will review the search for such novel states, starting with older predictions for high-Tc superconductors. We will then discuss our recent studies of TRSB in several systems, including our pioneering results on Sr2RuO4, the pseudogap state of high temperature superconductors, and the heavy fermion system URu2Si2.
