UCI Professor Zuzanna Siwy Elected as 2019 AAAS Fellow

UCI Professor Zuzanna Sity has been elected for her efforts on behalf of the advancement of science, Physics Section.
 
Citation:  Zuzanna Siwy, Professor of Physics & Astronomy, Chemistry and Biomedical Engineering, for distinguished contributions to the chemistry and physics of synthetic nanopores as templates for biomimetic channels, as well as ionic diodes and ionic transistors
 
Election as a Fellow of the AAAS honors members whose efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its applications in service to society have distinguished them among their peers and colleagues.  Election as a Fellow of AAAS is an honor bestowed upon members by their peers. Fellows are recognized for meritorious efforts to advance science or its applications.  
 
A member whose efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its applications are scientifically or socially distinguished and who has been a continuous member for the four year period leading up to the year of nomination, may, by virtue of such meritorious contribution be elected a Fellow by the Council. Examples of areas in which nominees may have made significant contributions are research; teaching; technology; services to professional societies; administration in academe, industry, and government; and communicating and interpreting science to the public. Fellows are elected annually by the AAAS Council from the list of approved nominations from the Section Steering Committees.
