UCI Professor Kevork Abazajian honored with the Academic Senate’s Distinguished Assistant Professor Award for Research.

The Irvine Division of the Academic Senate presented Distinguished Faculty Awards at the Newkirk Alumni Center on Monday, December 16, 2013.

Professor Kevork Abazajian was honored with the Academic Senate’s Distinguished Assistant Professor Award for Research. The award is conferred by the Senate on those who have made significant contributions to scholarship through distinguished research.

Dr. Abazajian is part of the Department of Physics and Astronomy and studies the origin, structure and composition of the universe. His research on dark matter detection has been featured in Science MagazineSpace.com and others.

The Academic Senate's Distinguished Faculty awards are among the most prestigious honors University of California faculty members can receive from their colleagues.
