Abstract:
The existence of dark matter is a mystery that cannot be explained by our current understanding of fundamental particle physics. Although it is known to provide the gravitational scaffolding of the universe, dark matter seems to be invisible to the other known forces of nature. Recent years have seen a growing interest in the possibility that the constituent of dark matter is a new particle lighter than familiar energy scales, but difficult to detect due to its extremely feeble interactions with normal matter. In this talk, I will discuss new ideas to discover this invisible universe and the exciting possibility that much of the motivated parameter space is within the reach of next-generation small-scale experiments.
